Pilot project

The Eastern Townships: a living laboratory.

A project in development to bring research and action together, with and for communities.

What is a living lab?

A living lab is a research and innovation process rooted in everyday settings. Researchers, organizations and citizens help define the issues, test ideas and evaluate responses together.

The pilot project is in development. Partners, timelines and participation opportunities will be announced once confirmed.

Why the Eastern Townships?

With two universities, a mix of urban and rural communities and a strong network of community organizations, the region offers fertile ground for collaborative work. These connections help bring scientific knowledge closer to local realities.

A five-step approach

From knowledge to action.

01

Measure

Build a multidimensional picture of flourishing and identify the region’s needs.

02

Mobilize

Bring researchers, citizens, municipalities and organizations together around shared priorities.

03

Experiment

Co-design and test initiatives in real-life settings.

04

Evaluate

Document outcomes, the conditions for success and lessons learned through experimentation.

05

Expand

Share findings and develop a model that other regions across Canada can adapt.
